Nous avions eu quelques journées assez douces avant la dernière chute importante, ce qui a fait en sorte que la neige s'est collée aux branches des arbres et y est restée.
Deux jours plus tôt, par un temps glacial, j'avais entrepris de marcher jusqu'à l'autre bout de notre chemin; l'équivalant d'environ deux kilomètres aller-retour. Le vent soufflait très fort en ce 30 décembre mais ça en a valu la peine ne serait-ce que pour brûler quelques calories de trop...
Le bord du chemin était magnifiquement sculpté par le vent.
Je n'ai malheureusement pas eu la chance de voir d'oiseaux, ils devaient tous se garder au chaud dans la forêt... Mais j'ai quand même découvert quelques traces; celles ci-dessous sont celles de dindons sauvages.
Puis, la journée s'achevait...
Depuis, il neige assez souvent mais pas beaucoup à la fois. J'ai remarqué qu'il y a plus d'oiseaux à nos mangeoires cet hiver comparativement à l'an passé. J'ai donc plus de chances de les prendre en photos et je termine ce billet avec encore quelques photos d'eux.
Le 27 décembre dernier, nous avons eu de la visite rare à la mangoire, soit un petit groupe de durbecs des sapins. C'est un oiseau que nous ne voyons qu'occasionellement; il a presque la grosseur du merle d'Amérique et mesure de 20 à 25 cm. Le mâle est rouge-rose terne avec les ailes sombres marquées de deux barres blanches. La femelle est tout aussi jolie mais de couleur différente, un genre de jaune verdâtre.
Je me suis donc empressée de prendre quelques photos; elles ne sont pas très claires mais elles sont précieuses à mes yeux c'est pourquoi je les partage avec vous.

My favorites are 10, 11.12, 13, 16, 17 and, of course, on the squirrel 19. Great to see all the tracks in the snow but the squirrel in the snow.
